Story
Not too long ago in a place not very far, far away, two friends, Sally & Jan, discussed the possibility of participating in the London Moonwalk. Sally had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and had a mastectomy, followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy, all carried out in Bulgaria. Jan was also diagnosed in 2013 with a cancer of “unknown primary” but as the lump was in her neck, she was treated for head and neck cancer in the UK which involved surgery, chemo and radiotherapy. Luckily both Sally and Jan are fully recovered and decided that they wanted to "give something back."
There are over 200 hundred types of cancers, with 1 in 3 of us suffering from cancer at some point in our lives; everyone has been touched by this dreadful disease in some way or another. We wanted a cancer charity that particularly focused on Europe and agreed on the Institute for Cancer Research (ICR), whose mission is to make the discoveries that defeat cancer. We also wanted a local Bulgarian charity and decided upon the Association of Cancer Patients & Friends (ACPF), a self-funding support group based in our local city of Gabrovo.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure and your details are safe. Donations will go directly to the ICR, saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
