Story
Be an Angel and sponsor the voluntary
Sunday 3rd June will be your last chance to hear the old organ before it is taken out, we will then be without an organ for more than a year. You can sponsor your choice for the final voluntary at the 10am Mass. The four contenders are:
Toccata and Fugue in D minor - Bach
Toccata in F - Widor
Pomp and Circumstance March no. 1 - Elgar
Sortie in Eb - Lefebure-Wely
Excerpts from each piece will be played at the 10am Mass over the coming three weeks: Bach’s Toccata in D minor after the Gospel on May 13th, an ex- cerpt from the Widor after the Gospel on 20th May, and an excerpt from the Lefebure - Wely after the gospel, and the quiet bit of Pomp and Circumstance during communion on 27th May. Links to recordings of all four pieces can also be found on the smaaa.org website.
The voluntary which receives the most donations before 10pm on Saturday 2nd of June will be played at the end of the Family Mass on 3rd June.
As well as raising money, we are using this as an opportunity to raise the profile of organ voluntaries as part of the worship at St Michaels.
