We support homeless people to enable them to transform their lives

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

My name is James Hilling. I run a project called WUWU that supports all the Homeless charities and projects within Southampton. With the help of my freinds Laura Smith, Ryan Keary , Gary Benneton, Holly Alexander, Matty Tew, Rhys Corlett, Ashley Brittan and Steve Cropp we will be sleepin rough to raise money and awareness for Homeless charities and projects in the city.  I have been doing this for 3 years now. I spent some time in care as a youth, and have been homeless on more than one occasion since. I have always worked within the music industry and the clubbing arena. I had been working within some of Europe's biggest clubs with some of the biggest artists until I came back to the uk in 2008.. I was stabbed in a random attack on a night out with friends .and as a result I lost the ability and motivation to look after myself on a day to day. I attempted suicide and became scared of going outside or being around people. I gradually lost my self respect and the will to be part of normal society. I was suffering from a form of PTSD and plunged in depression. Thankfully I took the help offered from the projects in the city and within a few months I was back on my feet. Society of St James look after people in the same state. I was then introduced to The Basics Banks who provide food and clothing to people in the similar situations as my self.

Without wanting to bore you to tears , I have done a number of initiatives over the past few years involving fundraising through Nightclub events and have formed strong partnerships with most of the the venues within Southampton.

Since then it has gone from strength to strength. I have teamed up with Steve Cropp from Cartland Garage Services and The Saints Pub in Millbrook, who between them they supply and finance a vehicle for me to use to support the Basics Banks and Society Of St James . We have managed to rope in Switch Nightclub, Orange Rooms, Junk Club, Club Qube , The Soul Cellar and The Saints . Mr Danny " Eastleigh" Harkins will also raise funds at his Boxing Events and Pro Boxer Matty Tew will wear one of our Tshirts at his fight at the O2 London featured on Sky Sports on the 11th October  in order to collect money on this behalf. The aim is to raise £2500 online and a further £5000 to be split among the Basics Bank and Patrick House.
