A very special one-off event in Dundee aimed at promoting the benefits of physical exercise on mental wellbeing.
A team consisting entirely of Dundee musicians will play a full eleven aside match against a team of players associated with local mental health services.
The musicians team, DDFC aka Smells Like Team spirit, consists of players from the following Dundee bands:
Scary People, Vladimir, The Hazey Janes, Krooked Saints,
The Shithawks, Hanney, King Louie / The Mess Arounds / The Orc Mischeif, Judges, The Strangers Almanac / Stonethrower and Stereo-Filth. Glasgow band The Merrylees will also be represented in the form of Dundonian guitarist Reuben Toy.
Their opponents are local team Alloway Thistle, whose manager originally came up with the idea of the charity game.
Entry to play and spectate is by donation only; minimum suggested donation is £2.
All proceeds will go to Scotland's leading mental health charity SAMH (Scottish Scottish Association for Mental Health) who are working in partnership with Street Soccer Scotland to offer positive change through football to socially excluded young people.
The not for profit social enterprise has recently launched a new Dundee Street Soccer group. For more info visit:
