On Monday May 28 I booked to jump out of a plane taking off from the airfield at Langar, Notts. The last time I took off from this airfield was in 1943 in World War 2 and I didn't get back. My plane was shot down over Normandy and my life saved by parachute. I was taken off to POW camp where I eventually received a letter from my girlfriend informing me we were engaged! Our happy marriage lasted 57 years but for the last 7 of those years my lovely wife was stricken by Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer's is a terrible and devastating disease to those who have it and to their families but not nearly enough money is available for research. I am hoping to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Research Trust by another (this time voluntary) parachute descent.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Research Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support.
Update: I made it! After a 24-hour postponement from Bank Holiday Monday because of the bad weather, I was lucky enough to have the plane and instructor all to myself. For anyone interested (or in search of proof) my skydive is on video at http://www.realxstream.com?XStreamID=79711&Vid=1
It is, of course, still possible to donate.
