Story
In January 2013, I did something rather remarkable....
I took part in the 2013 Dryahtlon for Cancer Research UK.
For 31 days, I did not have a single drop of alcohol.
Not one single drop.
I hit a remarkable total of £253 in donations.
This year, I have decided to take part in the 2014 Dryahtlon.
That's another 31 days without any alcohol.
So why are you doing it?
Over the last few years, I have seen friends and family member suffer from various types of cancer.
In 2013, my wife and I lost a very good friend to cancer.
I want to help raise additonal funding that will go towards research to help combat cancer. I want my son to grow up in a world where he doesn't have to see the pain people go through both suffering from cancer, or the pain it leaves with friends and family.
So how can I pursuade you to donate?
I have set myself a personal target of £250 once again, but for 2014 I wanted to throw in an extra challenge.
£253.....? That can be beaten.
A month with no alcohol?
Why not two months?
Why not three months?
So what are you talking about?
It's fairly simple to be honest.
If I reach my target of £250 before Midnight on January 31st 2014, I will extend my month without alcohol to the end of February.
If I then reach a second target of £500 by midnight on the February 28th 2014 . . . . I'll carry on for the month of March.
What happens after that?
Simple - if I raise another £250, I'll carry on.... and on.... and on....
How do you donate then?
There are three ways you can help me raise funds for Cancer Research UK
-
You can give me your donation personally, and I'll put it all together and send to Cancer Research at the end of January (or what ever month I finally end on)
-
You can donate online via justgiving by using this link: justgiving.com
-
You can donate quickly via text message. For all the numbers, please see below
However you choose to donate, I just want to give you a massive thank you. It really, really does mean a lot to me, and I will be thrilled if I reach my target of £250 (or above).
Thank you for reading, and thank you for your donation.
