Story

Right.  I have absolutely no idea whether I can do this.  That is a fact.

Its not an organised event as such, just me attempting to swim across the Solent from Portsmouth to Ryde on the Isle of Wight, sometime this summer.  Preferably when the water is a bit warmer and flat.  Its about 5 miles I reckon, dependent on tides...

I've only ever swam about a mile before and that was in a pool.  And I stopped alot.  This 'challenge' has the added 'excitement' of potentially being run over by a yacht, speedboat, ferry, hydrofoil, hovercraft or supertanker.  So, if you don't want to sponsor me, maybe you can donate some danger money instead...

I'm swimming for 2 charities, the 3 Little Miracles Fund and Cancer Research, both very close to my heart.  Although this website only allows one charity to be displayed, I will be splitting the proceeds between the two equally.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: both charities will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

The event is now planned for mid October, to make the swim a bit more of a challenge, as frankly it was looking too easy to do it in September...

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks.

Giles
