Story
Just over a few weeks to go and I will be running the Edinburgh Seven Hills Race (26th June) with four of my mates, a 14.3 mile race with an ascent of 2,200 ft.
My inspiration is a little girl called Georgie (the daughter of a very close friend) and I will be helping her family to raise awareness and money through a Family Fund for Muscular Dystrophy UK - Georgie's Genes.
Georgie is 3 years old and was diagnosed with L-CMD in November 2014. L-CMD is a very rare form of congenital muscular dystrophy caused by a mutation in the lamin A/C gene which leads to progressive muscle weakness of the skeletal, respiratory and heart muscles. L-CMD is so rare that there is little knowledge about the disease progression and there are only a handful of children in the UK that have the condition. By participating in this event I hope to raise funds to support the research and development into this, as yet, incurable condition.
I have setup a Just Giving page which links directly into the Georgie's Genes team and it will help towards meeting their fundraising target for this year.
Many thanks for taking time to read this. Your help is very much appreciated.
