UPDATE********
I made it! 4 hours and 48 minutes and 30 seconds after I left a sunny Blackheath I made it down the Mall with a big smile on my face. Injuries to my knees and back hampered my progress but I'm still pleased with the time - just have to go back to improve on it now ;) Thankyou all for your support - it made for the most incredible day of my life, well worth the pain and pasta suppers!
Those who know me well know that this has been a lifetime dream for me, having sat on the sofa as a porky child waiting for Sunday lunch fantasising that one day I could run this wonderful race, soak up the atmosphere and make as much money as possible.
I’m running for two charities, Ty Hafan and Paul Sartori (see other page, www.justgiving.com/simoneeade). Ty Hafan is a children’s hospice in Wales that has provided respite care for thousands of families of children with terminal illnesses. It has always struck a chord with me to know that so many children in do not make it to adulthood. As a mum to my gorgeous Emily I can’t imagine a life without her, leave alone the prospect of nursing her through an illness that would eventually take her away from me. For many parents this situation is all to real and for them I want to raise as much money as I can.
The training is hard and is not without aches and pains, but the goal for me is incredible – I can’t wait!!!! I won’t be wearing a fancy dress costume but if you tune in on Sunday 13th April 2008 you might spot a red faced welsh girl waddling home, and regardless of the discomfort I will have pride in my heart for finally achieving this goal.
