I will be spending 13 weeks from September in Borneo with Raleigh International working on environmental and community projects as a project manager with young people from the UK and local volunteers.

The money I raise will be going towards a whole variety of things, but one of the most important I think is a permenant presence in the host countries (they also currently run projects in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and India). This means they can identify and plan truly worthwhile projects and ensure these are sustainable, making a difference long after the volunteers have left.

One of my facial haired icons has also inspired me to nick his idea. It's quite a long way until I start and I'm planning a fairly circuitous route via South America to get to Borneo so take a guess how many modes of transport I'll be taking to get to the raleigh HQ from when i leave in March.
