Wilby Riding for the Disabled started in 1991 in Wilby and became a registered charity in 1997. In 2002 HRH The Princess Royal paid us an official visit in her capacity as President of RDA national. Wilby RDA is a member group of RDA national and specializes in providing riding  for disabled children   Recently the group has moved its operations to the indoor riding school at Moulton College.

Wilby RDA has grown and now accommodates 50 disabled children riders (ponies)  per week. Through riding it provides opportunities for therapy, achievement and enjoyment.  Riding is a universally recognised therapy for disabled children who benefit greatly from their weekly rides.

I have been involved with Wilby RDA for over 15 years and am a founder trustee.  I can testify to the therapeutic benefits it provides for the children, some of whom are very profoundly disabled indeed.

Wilby RDA is run by 2 dedicated ladies who are supported by 40 volunteer staff who give their time and expertise.  It has no paid employees.  Its major expenditure is in providing for its ponies and in paying the rent for the superb facilities at Moulton College. 

My plan to cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats in May will be dedicated to this cause and I would appreciate your support. I am cycling with my friend John Symon who is raising money for Alzheimer’s Research.
