Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

After running my first Marathon in Chicago in 2006, I discovered it was part of a group of the world’s greatest marathons called the World Marathon Majors. I decided to try and run them all to raise money for Cancer charities. Since then I have run marathons in Boston, New York and London. And this year I’m all signed up and am training hard for the fifth and final one of the series - Berlin on 30 September. Over the years and including other runs, I’ve raised over £12000 for cancer charities. As in New York and London, I’ll be raising funds for the truly inspirational charity Marie Curie Cancer Care where I work in the York office as a volunteer.

I was amazed to discover that apart from the elite, only 53 runners in the world have run all 5 World Marathon Majors, and of the 53 only 5 are British! The average time of the 5 British runners is 3 hours 37 minutes. All of which gives me two goals for Berlin. The running aim (other than finishing!) is to beat the average of these British stalwarts. And the fundraising aim is to beat my previous highest total which I set in New York of £1800. I will be funding the trip to Berlin from my own pocket, so every penny I raise will go to Marie Curie. It costs £20 to fund an hour of nursing care, so please give what you can - it all mounts up!
