SC 850Challenge

The 850 Million challenge · 31 December 2021 ·
As we entered 2021, Daisy-May had her new kidney and is well on the road to living a ‘normal’ life as a six year old.
A moment I’ll never forget is hearing the words of a consultant “Daisy-May’s kidney disease will not be cured by having a transplant, it is just a treatment”.
We live with the unknown of many things; Will her kidney last her this year? Will it last the average of 15 years? When will her body reject the kidney? What will we do when she needs another kidney transplant? Will she live healthily through her childhood and early adults years? Will there ever be a cure for kidney disease?
We live in hope that with Kidney research we can one day have answers to our questions and to cure our little girl, so that we and no-one has to endure the past 16 months like we have.
3 million people live with kidney disease in the UK, of which 1,000 are children, and one being Daisy-May.
I thought, what can I do? So I have decided to push myself by taking part in the #850 Challenge whereby during 2021 I will cycle 850 miles. I pledge to raise £850 to support Kidney Research in continuing with their life changing research, to find a cure for this terrible disease, and to free lives from fear of the life limiting nature it has.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any donation you can spare during these extremely tough times. Every mile I cycle I know that together we will find a cure.
