Story

50 Reasons to please sponsor me......

The following are those people that are close to me or I have known personally, who have been affected by cancer. Some have sadly lost their lives to the disease -

1.George Smith (paternal grandfather d. 1973), 2. Jeanne Brown (my aunt d. 2000), 3.Lyn (best friend's mum d. 2006 - received care at Sam Beare), 4. Annie (best friend's sister d. 2008 - received care at Woking Hospice), 5. Pete M. (my stepfather d. 2006), 6. John H (former work colleague d. 1999), 7.Peter B (former work colleague), 8. Jo Mockler (my mum), 9. Anne Gray (work colleague and inspiration, supported by Sam Beare and massive fundraiser in her own right), 10. Winifred Brown (my grandmother), 11. Uncle Don (d.1999), 12. Fred 'Buster' Brown (my maternal grandfather d. 1998), 13. Rick M (family friend d. 2008)

.....I could go on, but I bet all of you looking at this page, between you, would know at least 50 people who have been affected by cancer...

So - for all those family and friends, I finally decided to 'have a go' at the London Marathon. I've never made the ballot before, but this time I really wanted to do it in 2012, as a way of celebrating(?) my 50th birthday in March and to raise funds for the wonderful Sam Beare Hospice in Weybridge. This is a cause very close to my heart and provides invaluable care and support for cancer patients and their families.

Due to lack of financial resources (and cutbacks every year), not all cancer patients are able to be offered a place at a hospice at times when they need it most. So for your 50, please help by donating any amount - whether it be 50p, £5, £50 or anything in between - and I know that all the training during the winter, the sore feet and aching legs will be worthwhile!

Thank you so much for your support and to find out more about the wonderful work that Sam Beare does, please have a look at the following link -

www.wsbhospices.co.uk

.....and if you want to have a giggle at my Smilebox slideshow, then you can see more of my race preparation behind the scenes....

http://smilebox.com/playBlog/4d7a41794d5451324d7a413d0d0a&blogview=true

Love Sharon xx
