Shantikara Knits for Buddhafield!
Do you have an unfinished knitting project? Have you found the perfect hand-knitting pattern that you don't have the time (or inclination!) to work up yourself? Something hand-crafted for you or a loved one? Well, I'd like to invite you to send me that pattern and some suitable yarn of your choice, and I will knit it up for you! In return, I'll ask you to make a donation to the wonderful project outlined below...
(Of course, you are most welcome to make a donation even if I don't knit for you....!)
Can I knit? Well, I might not be the fastest knitter in the world (not as fast as my mum, at least!), but I have been knitting for some 20 years, and my work is neat and meticulous! I've knitted mostly sweaters of various designs, and more recently socks, but I can turn my hand and needles to a whole range of garments and designs. I can work with multiple yarns of different colours, and even fancy lace patterns!
Talking of my mum, she has donated two of her knitted characters (a Gardener and a Chimney Sweep) to put up for sale - so please make me offers I can't refuse!
How to do it. Probably best to contact me first by email (shantikara@gmail.com) to let me know what you'd like me to do, and to alert me to the imminent arrival of your yarn and pattern which should be sent to Mooracre Farm Long Barn, Credition, Devon EX17 4BR. Remember to include your own address for me to return the finished garment!
What would you be donating to?
In 2006 Buddhafield bought 17 acres of gorgeous land in Dartmoor National Park called Frog Mill. It cost £85,000 and Buddhafield has done very well to pay off over £50,000 but there is still £35,000 to go. The land is used to hold some of Buddhafield's larger retreats and has a salmon spawning river, the Blackaton Brook flowing through it and is home to kingfishers, dippers and a host of other wildlife. The Buddhafield collective has a heartfelt desire to contribute to protecting land, and enabling people to build caring relationships with the earth that supports us. The need to preserve healthy soil and habitats where wildlife can thrive grows ever more urgent in our time. Buddhafield is looking for 150 people to raise £200 each, by the end of 2010, in creative and exciting ways - like I am doing - so that Frog Mill will be paid off and we’ll be free to go on to other things. Would you like to be one of those people sharing your skills, passions, creativity and talent to help Buddhafield? Thank you to everyone who is supporting me.
