Story
Seb Green was rescued by the Coastguard in 2005 having ‘borrowed’ a boat from Weymouth Marina. Through work with the Youth Offending Team, Seb became involved in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and began a long journey that will be complete when he finishes his walk around the coast of Britain.
Accompanied by his dog, Flash, Seb will begin his venture on 1 February 2008 from Weymouth beach. By completing a 5 000 mile venture, carrying his own equipment, this courageous young man hopes to raise over £20 000 for Starlight Children’s Foundation and Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. He will promote sea safety and raise awareness amongst teenagers that the dangers of the sea should never be underestimated.
Peter Westgarth, Chief Executive of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award said,
“ Seb’s commitment and determination in preparing and undertaking this incredible challenge is a great testament to how young people across the country are being inspired, having life-changing experiences, and benefiting their local communities due to their involvement in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. The Award wishes Seb the very best of luck.”
