Story
Canadian ice hockey player Bruce Sims (in photos) was huge star with the Blackpool Seagulls ice hockey team back in the early 1980s. When I heard that he was coming over to Blackpool to play for the Seagulls again - after a break of 30 years - I decided to produce a special souvenir version of the match programme with lots of information about Bruce and his twin brother Brian from when they played for the Blackpool Seagulls and Southampton Vikings.
Knowing that some of the Seagulls players had raised a large sum for Brian House last summer by doing the 62 mile Manchester to Blackpool cycle ride, I figured I could do my bit for the charity as well by doing what I do best - which is writing!
The programme was a complete sell out and we have had to do a reprint to satisfy demand.
When he heard about the Hospice Bruce Sims himself immediately gave me a donation of £50 - which was very nice of him - and other people have also made similarly generous pledges.
You can buy your own copy of the Sims Souvenir Programme by mail order from www.poshupnorth.com if you so wish (they cost £2 each plus P&P and a donation from each sale goes to the Hospice.
