Story
Thank you for visiting my Leukaemia Research fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Hurrah !.We have now (almost!) completed our challenge. When I say "almost" I mean that in the fact that we had to call time on our little outing only 18 miles away from our intended destination of Morocco!...why ?
Well it was not due to us or the car not being up to the challenge, it was simply the fact that we were unable to secure a return crossing to Morocco for what we considered a reasonable price !. We decided in the end that discretion was the better part of valour, and that paying over £400 for a short hop over to Morocco and back within 12 hours was just extortionate...so we ended up in the Morrisons supermarket in Gibraltar :-)

No doubt a few of you visiting this fundraising page will have previously visited my lastfundraising events page at www.justgiving.com/rocaroundtheclock which we completed in August 2007 and managed to raise over £1550 (inc giftaid) for Leukaemia Research
This challenge (as the name suggests !) is going to be a little more involved than the last one, but we hope that our endevours will inspire you to once again "dig deep" and make this fundraiser even more succesful
As you will see from our logo on the left, we are not only raising money for Leukaemia Research, but also 2 other very worthy charities. The Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Air Ambulance, and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Yet again we are going to be driving "Scarlet", the 21 year old VW Scirocco Scala, but instead of just myself and my wife, this time the team is made up off 2 guys.Andy (me), and Glen.We both work within the NHS, and we figured that if you want to raise money for charity (ies !), you may as well go for it big style !.
Why Morocco ?................well it just happens to rhyme with "Scirocco"...if we had been using any other car it could have been "Bora 2 Bognor" or "Carina 2 Argentina" !, but we're not...so the name sort of took care of itself really.
You will probably notice in the picture that we have a very strange looking trailer !.This is our "Half Roc"...it's like a half Track...but made out of a scirocco and it's purpose (apart from novelty value) is to enable us to carry our supplies and accomodation (tents) with us.We don't do it the easy way like Ewan McGregor and his team....3 bikes....2 4x4's...medics,managers etc,etc.....we are it, 3 guys,1 car...and a halfroc !Also, we are going to be covering 3500 miles in 10-12 days...not 15'000 in 82......however just like the "Long Way Down" team we will be filming the preparations/trip, so please look out for our Travelogue being posted in the near future.
As before, anyone who can help us in any way will instantly be on our "best mates" and Christmas card list....we need your help to help us to help others (is that to many "helps" in one sentance ?).If you feel you can do anything to...erm..help, then please email me:
