Story
This is the 4th time I've participated in Jonjo's annual charity events for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research.
There's always a lot of walking involved, it's always centred around football and we always raise a significant sum of money for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research - with a particular focus on Bowel Cancer which was particular to the loss of Bobby Moore and of Jonjo's nanny Lyn.
I was also aware that Phil Parkes - someone with strong connections both to QPR and West Ham had been diagnosed with the same illness last year, but I heard he has managed to defeat it, thankfully.
Every year, assisted by his family and a large number of friends from the football community - mostly West Ham, Jonjo undertakes a big football themed walk to raise money for the Bobby Moore fund and we all have a lot of fun doing it.
I've been delighted to represent QPR's contribution towards his efforts each year since I began participating and this year will be no different. Last year's walk was a 50 mile trek across Essex from Southend to East London. This year will be roughly the same distance again but this time doing a tour of London's Premier League grounds, beginning and ending at West Ham, via Arsenal, Tottenham, QPR, Chelsea and Crystal Palace.
I'll be doing the whole five days (though this may involve some careful juggling and balancing with work commitments as the walk won't be taking place during Half Term this year, but the week before, in order to be able to finish on a West Ham home matchday). I'll be doing the whole walk barefoot as usual and will aim to put together some video highlights similar to last year.
As QPR don't have a game at the weekend I've been invited to go and watch West Ham play Crystal Palace after the walk which easily beats twiddling thumbs at home!
QPR Fans have always been great at contributing financially to causes such as these - our support for the Tiger Cubs has been phenomenal, and even this which is only loosely linked to QPR by me, and only really promoted to QPR fans by has always had a great response from Rs and I'll be just as appreciative of any donations that can be spared this year as well.
So wish me luck and thanks again for all your support!
You Rs!
