As a lot of you already know, I (Sarah) had a stroke on 1st May 2014 at the age of 33, so this run falls on the second anniversary of my stroke... to the day.
We're both just as thankful now as we were back then that, thankfully I have made a brilliant recovery. I'm one of the very very lucky ones and some people that suffer a stroke can lose physical ability, speech, sight, suffer locked in syndrome and unfortunately death. It doesn't just effect the victim of a stroke but can have a big impact on the loved ones around helping to care.
As I am one of the fortunate ones and am able to run, walk and talk then we feel that this run would be very apt for us both (like last year) to help to not just raise money for this fantastic charity but to raise awareness on strokes in younger people.
Please donate however small and help raise money for this fantastic charity, they help support both stroke victims and their families and their campaigning and fundraising helps research for improved treatments and care which has helped save many many lives.
Stroke is not discriminative....It doesn't matter whether you are black or white, old or young, man, woman or child, It can strike at any time. We are very proud to be running for such a fantastic charity close to our hearts and any donation will be much appreciated.
