TARGET £10,000

TODATE £5,039.00  13th July, 2014

A huge thank you to everyone for your  kind generous donations and wonderful support, you have been amazing - thank you

Thank you to every one who came and shared a fabulous magical night on the 8th July, and saw me as you have never seen me before - it's itchy!!

This is a one off chance to see me as you have never seen me before.  I have had my dark luscious locks shaved off on July 8 2014. Why did I sacrifice my hair?  I’m passionate about supporting an unsung worthy cause - Merlin Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Centre

As a Community Nursing Sister I was only too aware of how MS affected patients, their carer’s and families.  Many of you reading this will also know that my Mum demonstrated amazing courage whilst battling with progressive MS for over 15 years.  You may not know that Rebecca my partner’s brother had progressive MS too – sadly he chose to take his own life in 2012.  We also have dear friends whose family members live with MS. Multiple Sclerosis can affect anyone at any time usually when in their prime, commonly between the ages of 20-40. It is a debilitating disease with an unpredictable course, often causing paralysis, loss of speech, cognitive dysfunction and can affect all the systems of the body.

Cornwall has the highest rate of MS in mainland Britain and the Merlin MS Centre is the only MS therapy centre in Cornwall.  As the name suggests it’s a magical place for those with MS and other neurological conditions to gain information, support, respite and essential therapeutic interventions. As one lady said, ‘It gives me hope. A place to go, to be with other people who know just what I’m going through, who understand and show compassion. A beautiful setting, providing peace, joy and tranquillity in abundance. A place to heal.’

The Centre receives no Government funding, so relies on YOUR donation to support their work. Mum would have benefited greatly if the Centre had existed back then.  We recently personally benefited from the Centre’s services.  Rebecca found the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy treatment invaluable in alleviating her debilitating symptoms of ME/CFS. So for those that can benefit today and in the future, to say thank you to the Merlin Centre, I intend to raise £10,000.

This amount will assist this magical place to provide essential therapies such as physiotherapy/occupational therapy/counselling/complementary therapy and yoga. Help run the mini bus – essential to those in outlying villages, provide respite care, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and purchase equipment.

Thank you for giving generously.  YOUR donation is and will make a difference.  I believe my locks are worth everyone digging deep.
