Fundraising for NABS
In November 2008 I will be taking part in what I hope to be one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences of my life – the NABS CommunityChallenge in India, to help raise as much sponsorship as possible for NABS, the trade charity for the marketing and communications industry, and Habitat for Humanity, the charity dedicated to the ideal that communities and families in third world countries deserve a simple, decent place to live. CommunityChallenge is an incredibly rewarding charity experience! An estimated 2.6 billion people (or two thirds) of the world’s population have no access to adequate sanitation in their homes. By taking part in this challenge and physically building a house alongside the local community, it will not only leave an impoverished family with a simple decent home but the hard work by the team will also help to lift the spirits of the local community and provide motivation. The challenge will incorporate working as team during a week of digging foundations, clearing land, mixing concrete or mortar, helping to fit window frames, painting or plastering. Over the next few months I am dedicating myself to raising sponsorship and training for the expedition. We must raise a minimum of £2500 in sponsorship. The money raised will be divided between both NABS and Habitat for Humanity. This money will help increase the £500,000 NABS already give each year to industry people facing life changing situations such as terminal illness, accidents, chronic disability and other crisis situations when no other help is available, as well as developing the house building initiative for Habitat for Humanity. I need your help to reach my fundraising target. If you could make a small donation it would bring us nearer to reaching my goal. For more details of the communitychallenge or how you could get involved please visit the NABS website www.nabs.org.uk Thanks LOADS xxxxx |
