Sam Salvoni is raising money for Kidney Cancer UK
ING New York Marathon 2009 · 1 November 2009 ·
Here we go again!
Just when I thought I could relax, Robert has persuaded me to run the New York Marathon. Something to do with the couple of days shopping either side, I guess! Seriously though, our lovely friend Rose Woodward has been a tireless campaigner for the rights of cancer patients to get the latest life extending cancer drugs funded by the NHS and I have been moved to help. Many terminally ill cancer patients are denied treatment their Doctors want to prescribe because the NHS says it is not cost effective to treat them. Rose is a survivor of Kidney Cancer and now runs a website and forum offering practical help, advice & friendship to these kidney cancer patients and their families. Rose works closely with the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer which is the ’s foremost specialist kidney cancer charity. The charity works with the ’s leading renal Clinicians and patients to help reduce the harm caused by kidney cancer by increasing knowledge and awareness, providing patient information and by supporting research into the causes, prevention and treatment of this devastating disease. I managed to raise over £1k (amazingly!) for the London Marathon in 2006, so it would be just fantastic to go one better this time. I absolutely promise never to run any more marathons, so I won't ever ask you to dig deep again! Please help me support these patients battling against kidney cancer if you can. Love, Sam.
