We provide a lifetime of support to the wider Army Family.

Story

Richard was killed in action in Iraq on 15th April 2006. We had six years of wonderful smiles together. This was not enough, but I consider myself lucky for the time we were given.

I am running the marathon for him, and the times we shared.

The marathon will take place only a few days after the first anniversary of Richard's death. By running for the Army Benevolent Fund, a cause in which we believed so strongly, I will be able to start to honour the memory of Richard and the time we spent together - sustaining our values and beliefs.

Although it is me running the marathon, this is not an individual effort! It involves what we have termed 'Team RS', a term coined from RS courage (Richard and Sally) which has kept us going - encircling the family when we feel we can't possibly go on. Our families and friends have offered me their support in my fundraising. Without them I would not be able to conquer the marathon nor the devastation caused by his loss. We are most definitely a team.

Richard touched the lives of everyone he met and I am determined to keep his memory alive. I would like to thank everyone who gives their support to Team RS.

'To the world he was a soldier.

To us he was the world.'

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Army Benevolent Fund will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the overwhelming support we've received. My time didn't set the world on fire - 4:49:09 but I never walked which was a main goal. Clarkie (Sarah Clark) was Richard's great friend from University and she also ran the marathon. She helped me conquer the course - she was amazing. It was an emotional day and one I will remember for the rest of my life, made all the more special by the support of my family, Richard's family and all our many friends. Richard's spirit and courage drove us on.  Thank you xx
