Story
Couldn't run ... ran the London Marathon twice!
Couldn't row ... rowed the Atlantic TWICE!
Thing is I'm no athlete; I just like to give things a go. The more challenging and difficult the adventure the more I like it. So I've decided to take a journey back across the Atlantic. Yes, I like being seasick so much I'm heading back out into the ocean again! This time I'm jumping aboard a 68ft racing yacht in the last leg of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.
I never sailed, in fact I don't really know my aft from my elbow, but I did spend last August bobbing about in the sunny Solent. I've joined the crew of Uniquely Singapore, the yacht that will be my home for almost 3 months. We'll be facing the Atlantic rollers from Jamaica to New York, off to Novia Scotia, dodging icebergs to Cork, then a quick whip round to the Netherlands, before making anchor in Hull.
With the support of the Clipper skippers, and my fellow amateur crew, I won't be pulling any 'red ropes', nope I'll be sweating the yankee halyard! Check me out... Sailor Sal!
"Ahoy me hearties!" That's what I say ( :
Oh, and as I do every challenge for charity, I've raised £300,000 so far, I've decided to support The Children's Trust.
You see, when you hear traumatic tales of children affected by brain injury The Children's Trust are there to rehabilitate, support and offer respite care. They're fab, what can I say?!
So, if you'd like to sponsor me, I'm sure you'll agree The Children's Trust are very deserving recipients.
