Story
This spring I'm running the Endurance Life Trail Half Marathon along the Sussex coast with Tom Siese and Brighton Marathon with Ed Palmer to fundraise for Doctors for Nepal.
After last year's Terminator all-terrain 10 miler race raised over £300 for Doctors for Nepal, I'm upping the stakes and taking on an off-road Half Marathon in March and Brighton Marathon in April.
Doctors for Nepal is a small UK-based charity that supports Nepali students from rural areas through medical school. They pledge to practice in their local area for 5 years, where medical facilities are scarce and under-staffed.
The charity is growing rapidly from funds raised over the past 18 months, with 3 students in medical school in Kathmandu and Kohalpur. The charity is also running public health and healthcare worker training projects in these communities.
Doctors for Nepal's first student, Lalit, will soon graduate and begin work in Kalikot, Western Nepal, at the hospital I spent 5 weeks at last summer. Witnessing the challenges the rural healthcare workers face in Nepal was an eye-opener - please support me in fundraising to get more local doctors on the ground in these struggling communities.
Many thanks!
