This year I will be spending my summer volunteering in Ethiopia, teaching English and running workshops for the children of Hanna’s Orphanage in Addis Ababa.

Hanna’s Orphanage is also the name of the small UK charity that is run entirely to support the orphanage and its children. Having started with one child the orphanage now looks after over 300 orphans – all made possible by the hard work put in by those running and supporting the orphanage and the charity. Many of the children have been left orphaned due to their parents dying from diseases such as AIDS, being sent to prison or through abandonment in one of the world’s poorest countries.

As I have been lucky enough to be chosen for this great opportunity I will be raising money for Hanna’s Orphanage over the next six months or so before leaving for Ethiopia. By donating you would not only be supporting me but a fantastic cause, something that has direct and evident impact to people’s lives.

All money raised goes directly to the orphanage, whether that’s for equipment, running costs, new facilities – all things that help significantly improve the lives of the children at the orphanage. Nothing goes into anyone’s pockets in any other way which I think is massively important and means every penny is used as beneficially as possible. One of the best things about the charity too is the transparency – we can tell you pretty much exactly where and how your donations have been used.
