Walt Disney World Half Marathon · 24 February 2008

We’re the UK’s leading charity for Crohn’s and Colitis. Right now, over 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. We’re working to improve diagnosis and treatment; to fund research and to raise awareness.

Greetings,

I am Ruth-Lucy. I am 23 years old. and have been a known Crohn's fighter since May 2003. I don't like to moan, I like to get on with it. BUT I deffinatly haven't had it easy.

I NEED your help and support! Please no matter if it's 1p or £10... anything helps. I need that extra push to complete this MEGA Challenge..

WHY WDW Marathon?: Disney and Walt Disney World are a big part of mine and my families lives.
After having my stoma reversed in 2006 I felt it was a great time to Push myself and do something posstivly challenging.
I wanted to do the Inline Marathon, 2007. Sadly, I had several flare ups and there is no longer going to be an Inline Weekend.
So, I still wanted to do a challenge (even though I battle every day), I decided on the Half Marathon.
I booked up at the begining of the year, and am training as much as I can.
I need to do this now, while I feel I can. I hope the 10months training continues to go well, and I am trying to keep strong!!

UPDATE: November 2008. Unforcanatly in June (2008) I had a major flare up and have been unactive for 5 months... My challenged seemed destroyed...

BUT that was just a hurdle.. I still have 6 weeks to get a little training in.. To be honest, I shouldn't be even trying, and I know I will probably end up being dragged around the coarse, but I am Determined  more than I was before this flare up to do it!!!!!!!                             I won't be beaten!!!

Only 3 weeks to go :)

GRR I just typed a LOT of things, pressed save, it had timed out my log in.. So Ok.. let me think...

UPDATE: December 2008. I finally managed to put up a Sponsor form at work and at my Dad's church. I am overwhelmed by the amount of support I'm recieving. It is such a great feeling SO many of you are willing to sponsor me and believe in me.
All of the lovely comments, good luck gifts and sponsors are EXTREMELY appreciated!! A large Thank you for the bottom of my heart!!!

UPDATED: 26 December 2008 MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
It was SO cold this Boxing day morning, bitter to the bone. BUT I did my final 'training' session before I leave for the U.S. Myself and my youngest sister went out on the streets, in our Santa hats and undertook 10miles! We got a lot of beeps from cars and hellos. I am now feeling rather stiff this evening, but I am now feeling alright about the half marathon. YAY!  BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for looking!!
