Story
Russell's crazy plan to hitchhike to Zadar, Croatia!
At Easter ill be attempting to hitchhike for charity from Sheffield to Croatia in 8 days with only a £15 emergency budget for transport.
The idea is to get there without paying for any transport, or at least keeping it as low as possible.
So it'll be a beg borrow or steal job, waiting on the side of the road in hope of a friendly stranger to give us a lift.
What is Bummit?
For those of you who do not know what Bummit is, check out the website here:
http://www.bummit.co.uk/whatisbummit/
Its organised by students from The University of Sheffield, and takes place every year, with a different destination to attempt to hitch-hike to in an attempt to raise lots of money for charity (See below for this years list of charities we are supporting).
The money raised will go directly to the charities that i'm fundraising for, and is not used to fund my trip, as we pay the trip costs separately out of our own money, so don't worry, all the money you donate will be going to a good cause :)
The charities we are supporting:
The charities that your sponsorship money will go to are:
- Parkinson's Disease Society
- Cavendish Cancer Care
- The Anthony Nolan Trust
- STOP - Supporting Trafficked and Oppressed people
- Sheffield Volunteering
- Kids Company
The minimum sponsorship is £200 so please be generous and help me out, as being a student, I can't afford to have to pay the difference if the total is below 200! :(
but even if you can only donate £1, it all counts, and will be much appreciated!!! :)
Remember to tick the Gift Aid box if you're a UK taxpayer, as this will add loads more to your donation (25%), without you having to do anything more :)
Recent fundraising events
Recent fundraising events have included going out into Sheffield town centre with a dozen other people all dressed up in our pyjamas, and trying to raise money all day.
Last week I did some charity bagpacking with another dozen people at Marks and Spencer's, its not JUST bag-packing, its warm-fuzzy-feeling-charity bagpacking! :P
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sheffield RAG gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% extra in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
