Story

(Please scroll to the end for updates.)

We're running in the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London on Sunday October 11th, and we're trying to raise money for a wonderful charity called the Labrador Rescue South East and Central.

When we lost our beloved Rascal last year we knew that we wanted to give another rescue dog a home.  That's when the LRSEC brought Buddy into our life!  (And it hasn’t been the same since!)

We want to try and give something back to the LRSEC for bringing us our beautiful Bud.  It costs over £270 for each Labrador the charity re-homes, and they re-home more than one dog every day!  We're hoping to raise enough money to cover the cost of re-homing one needy dog.***

So please dig deep and donate now.  It doesn’t matter how small the donation - every little bit helps to care for the loving Labradors that the LRSEC helps.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.  Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the LRSEC and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer (if you’re a UK taxpayer then please do remember to tick the box for Gift Aid – the LRSEC get an extra 25% on top of the donation you have made, at no extra cost to you!)  So it’s the most efficient way to donate – more money is raised, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you for helping us – and an extra-specially big barking-tail-wagging-stick-finding-carrot-munching thank you from Buddy!  (Do check out his photos and video in the sidebar.)

Edited 5th October:~

Wow!  We've already reached our initial £270 target!
Thank you all so, so much!
That means one needy dog can be helped to find a forever home.
Let's try and raise enough for another!

****Edited 12th October:~

We did it!
What a fabulous experience.  The course was absolutely lovely; it started in Hyde Park & included so many iconic locations - Buckingham Palace, St. James's Park, Parliament, Westminster Bridge, the Embankment, Whitehall, Trafalgar Square, Admiralty Arch, The Mall - before the final home straight past the Albert Memorial to the finish!  We completed the 13.1 miles in 2h 15mins.

Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored us - it means so much to us & the wonderful volunteers at the LRSEC. It costs over £270 to rehome each dog & they take in more than one dog a day. We're thrilled that we've already raised enough to cover the costs of finding one dog a forever home. There's still time if you'd like to contribute - every Pound helps.

We've added some pictures (left) showing us after the race (note Penny's black, furry Lab ears & tail!) & one with Buddy 'modelling' our medals!

Thank you again!
Penny, Craig and Buddy!

EDIT: Sept 2012

Deja vu... We're running to support this amazing organisation again!  This time in the Oxford Half Marathon on Sunday 14th October 2012.  We do have a new fundraising page here, but as our vests still include this justgiving page, we've extended the deadline for donations - just in case anyone wants to donate here. :)

Thank you!
