Story

Thank you for stopping by my donation page. I am an extreme distance runner and I've been fundraising for many years since the death of both of my parents due to cancer.

Using my fundraising nickname, Run Geordie Run, I am currently on a 20,000 mile circumnavigation of the world, running on land, in aid of St. Benedict's Hospice (and previously for The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, The Children's Foundation and Useful Vision) .

The journey is being done in 10 stages with 6 having been done already.

The next stage once it's safe to continue is:

7) 202? - The Road to Nur Sultan (Formerly Astana)

Kiev, Ukraine to Nur Sultan, Kazakhstan. 2000 miles.

The previous stages were:

1) 2007 - UK (£51,634 raised)

John O'Groats to Lands End. 874 miles in 37 days.

2) 2011 - USA (£105,717.80 raised)

Huntington Beach, California to Coney Island New York. 3,100 miles in 100 days.

3) 2013 - Australia (£55,126.60 raised)

Cottesloe Beach, Perth to Shellharbour, Sydney. 2,384 miles in 82 days.

4) 2016 - Western Europe (£55,147.25 raised)

Lisbon, Portugal to Belgrade, Serbia. 2,633 miles in 83 days.

5) 2018 - Europe (£59,041.50 raised)

Belgrade, Serbia to Kiev, Ukraine. 808 miles.

6) 2020 - Northumberland (£12,750.43 raised).

250 mile circular route starting and ending at Bamburgh Castle. This one was nicknamed "Stage X".

The future stages are:

8) tbc - China

Astana, Kazakhstan to Shanghai, China. 3500 miles.

9) tbc - Japan

Cape Sata to Cape Soya. 2300 miles.

10) tbc - New Zealand

Northerly tip of North Island to Southerly tip of South Island. 2309 miles.

In total, that's 20,000 miles around the world, on 4 continents, through 20 countries.

A detailed blog of the journey so far around the world can be read at www.rungeordierun.com.

Any donation made, in aid of St. Benedict's Hospice, no matter how large or small, will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation of your kind support.

Mark
