Story
I appreciate people are always asking for sponsorship but I cannot remember doing any fundraising like this up to now, and I've dished out over £300 to other JG pages according to this site, so it's my turn to ask nicely.
Rhino poaching has reached crisis point, and across the globe, rhino habitat is shrinking. It’s shocking that today, three of the five species of rhino are Critically Endangered, and two of them have fewer than 80 animals left in the wild. The good news is that together we can stop poaching and habitat loss so that in 20 years’ time, rhinos will no longer be near extinction. But we need to act now. We want to see all five rhino species thriving in the wild for future generations. With your support, we can make a difference.
I have been lucky to do a lot of travelling, imagine how grim it would be if these Rhino species were wiped out and nobody got the opportunity to see these amazing creatures. The world is so wet sometimes these days, you can't say boo to a goose but yet somehow, we allow this kind of practice to continue and rapidly moving towards wiping out entire species.
After bloating into the size of a Rhino since I had been contracting, I returned to Norwich 6 months ago and took up running by first joining GoodGym and got hooked on Parkrun every weekend. It is fair to say I have totally caught the bug, now being part of a full and proper running club (Norwich Road Runners) and having 3 x 10KM races under my belt. Still, even with all this running, 3 x half marathons is going to be a massive challenge for me, you'll all know I have had an ACL reconstruction and the other one is ruptured, so to be able to run (no twisting and turning) is a massive blessing for me given I cannot play sports anymore.
I have chosen what is one of the toughest Half Marathons as my first, in Snowdonia on Sunday 19th May. As if that is not enough, to complete the 'Three Castles Half Marathon challenge' I will also be doing Conwy half marathon and the Bangor half marathon in October/November 2019.
Please donate a fiver if possible, 200 people a fiver each would do the trick and especially if you're a Gooner #BeAGoonerBeAGiver
Aaron Ramsey is an ambassador for charities which safeguard the future of Rhinos and as everybody knows, I am a big fan of The Arsenal/Wales legend.
Please support me in taking on this challenge, and safeguarding the future of this species. Here is my nephew a couple years ago... I'd like him to grow up to see these amazing creatures himself in the wild one day.
