Race Starts 6th June 2010.

The Round Britain and Ireland ‘Yacht Race (The RBI) takes place every four years and is organised by the Royal Western Yacht Club in Plymouth.  The RBI is a unique test of seamanship for 2 handed crews over a course of approximately 2000 miles.  Unpredictable weather, the close proximity of a rugged and dangerous coastline and ever present shipping make this is a tough and challenging event.

Sharon and I are entering this Race for the personal challenge it presents and on behalf of the Children of the 'Richard House Hospice'.

'Richard House’ provides care and support for life-limited children and children with complex healthcare conditions and their families. Their purpose is to accompany them on the young person's journey through life or death; creating positive experiences along the way which become good memories for the future.

‘Velocity Girl’ is one of three VQ32’s in this year’s RBI and has been renamed ‘Richard House’ for the 10th Anniversary Year; we hope to encourage you to learn more about ‘Richard House’ and contribute to their future.

The children and supporters of Richard House will be cheering their boat around Great Britain and Ireland; we hope you will cheer us on too by following the Race Tracker and blog on the Richard House website
