Story

** UPDATE: Some big miles have been chalked off in the last couple of weeks. I completed the Milton Keynes half marathon in 2h 5m and a 15 mile run in 2.27 so the prospect of a finish time of 4h 30m is looking feasible. Weekend morning's are all about the long run so please give generously if only because you feel sorry for me not getting a lie in! xxx

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page which I have set up to support my attempts at completing the Virgin London Marathon 2012 and raise very important money for the charity Sense.

Sense is the leading national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind. They provide expert advice and information as well as specialist services to deafblind people, their families, carers and the professionals who work with them. They also support people who have sensory impairments with additional disabilities.

In my wisdom, I have decided to run the London Marathon for them - the full fat 26.2 miles! So in the coming weeks and months I will be slogging it out on the pavements of Buckinghamshire come rain (a certainty) or shine (less likely).

This may also not be the brightest decision in the middle of a recession but if you are able to sponsor me for the biggest challenge I have ever set myself then that would be fantastic. Your donation could do the following:

* £5 buys a set of aromatherapy oils to help stimulate a deafblind child’s senses.

* £10 pays for a fun afternoon of trampolining supported by a Sense worker who the deafblind person knows and trusts

* £20 pays for an hour with a Sense support worker who will be the eyes and ears of an older deafblind person, helping them to remain independent by giving a hand with the shopping, visiting the post office or a trip to church.

* £50 pays for an afternoon’s pony riding at Sense’s stables in Peterborough or could help pay for a deafblind child’s vital first assessment.

* £100 buys art and craft materials for a creative session on a Sense Family Day.

For more information about Sense and what they do please go to www.sense.org.uk.

Thank you for helping me acheive my slightly daunting target of £1,500 - please don't forget to add on Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer and think of me on Sunday April 22nd 2012 :-)
