TWO BIG ADVENTURES FOR CANCERactive
On 18th October 08 I started my fundraising by training for a skydive at Diss in Norfolk! Unfortunately it was FAR too windy to jump . After 10 months of bad weather and life getting in the way I did it! I've never been so petrified and excited at the same time! I had to remind myself to enjoy the experience! I left the plane at 13000 ft with 2 instructors teaching me to skydive. After freefalling for a minute, at 5000 ft I was on my own and pulled my parachute. I had to steer myself back to the landing area and managed a safe landing on the fields. I'm still grinning as I write this the next day! I had the photos taken to prove that I'd done it after such a long wait!
April 2010 I'll be flying to Peru to trek to Machu Pichu, on the Inca Trail. Training for the trek starts seriously now as altitudes are really high, 4000m so I'll need to get my legs and lungs fighting fit! I'll be heading for the hills in Benfleet that have been chosen as the Olympic Mountain biking venue! I've also been hula hooping (very vigorously) in my back garden, which is excellent aerobic exercise!
I've chosen CANCERactive as it's a charity that's really in tune with my approach to health. They provide well researched information on Complementary cancer therapies and Alternative cancer therapies not just orthodox ones; and the latest news on all the causes of cancer and cancer prevention, a real second opinion to help you beat cancer. They help people build Integrated cancer therapy programmes (sometimes called holistic cancer programmes) - using the best of the best - which some doctors believe can increase your personal odds of cancer survival by up to 60 per cent.
My sister Heather, who inspired me to do this fundraising, sadly died on 29 March 09. CANCERactive was a continual source of inspiration and information for her when she was having treatment.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: CANCERactive gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now! Thank you! I'm donating £2 for everyone I treat too!
A meal at The Royal Oak, Great Stambridge on 12 March raised £550 and a lunches for my lady friends raised £172 and £313. My next lunch for the ladies is Monday 21 September in Hadleigh so do let me know if you'd like to come. Big thanks to Phil and Sue for donating £100 from his 50th birthday bash in March.
Many, many thanks for your support!
