Story
Freelancers are some of the bravest and most vulnerable people in the news business. Every year, the Rory Peck Awards remind us how vital they are to the news industry – and to us all.
Recent events in Syria have been a sobering reminder of the real dangers that face journalists in reporting conflict. And it’s the same story in other areas of conflict and repression. Journalism has become a high-risk occupation. Freelancers face these risks with little or no protection. That’s why the work of The Rory Peck Trust is so important. Over the last twelve months, we’ve helped over 150 freelancers and their families, but we could have helped many more.
The Rory Peck Trust is the only organisation in the world 100% dedicated to the safety and welfare of freelancers and their families. Our work is more relevant than ever. We need your donations so that we can do our best for all those who will need our help in 2013. Please give – as generously as you can.
