Story
Update: I have now completed the ride - it was a total of 2119 kilometres or 1317 miles from the Old Market Square to the Piazza Navona, ridden in 23 days (plus three rest days). If you were holding back, please feel free to donate now!
=======================
In June/July 2007 I shall be cycling from Nottingham to Rome, or at least as far as I can get in that direction, in a wilfully unprepared and disorganised manner. The idea is that this encourages you to give money to someone else, in this instance the Down's Syndrome Association; I've never been exactly clear how that works, but there you go. There is/will be a lot more information on the blog I've set up (as you do these days).
Back in the old days, people used to arrange their sponsored stuff on the basis that the sponsor paid a sum that depended on how well you achieved the pointless activity of your choice; I sort of prefer that idea so I'd be quite happy for people to tell me they want to do that and pay me using this site on completion or collapse, not least to encourage me not to bottle out somewhere around Market Harborough. For reference, it's a total riding distance of about 2000 kilometres/1200 miles if I make it. But for those who prefer to do their giving on the lump sum up front basis, please go ahead now!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Down's Syndrome Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
