Story

.Being part of OGRI MCC and the biker world, we all know we are suckers for a good cause and supporting as many charities as we possibly can. Along with, supporting our brothers and sisters in their hour of need.

This adventure began earlier last year when a fellow OGRI MCC member & veteran (Ian Wurz Jacobson) sent out an email requesting support and team mates to help with his recovery. Wurz has dark days when the black dog come’s calling, so to help with his recovery keeping his black dog corralled. He set himself a challenge. In his intimate wisdom Wurz decided on the Trailwalker Challenge. Not only to help himself, but also many others. With all monies raised going to Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust.

Trailwalker Challenge is a 100KM (62.1 miles) walk over the Southdown’s country park. Starting in Southampton and finishing at Brighton Race course. Easy I hear you say. Not when you only have 30 hours to complete it and 50% of your team are old farts and broken.

Wurz’s next mission was to find people crazy enough to walk in his team of 4 + 1 reserve and support crew. That’s where I come in. on reading Wurz’s email I didn’t hesitate and sent a reply back immediately saying “I’m in”. The reply came back saying “great Alex (OGRI MCC member & veteran)we now need a few more”. This came as a phone call to my daughter Harriett,( Oglet) informing her “I’ve put her name down for a walking challenge and ask Sam to come along too” Harriett being just as crazy has her mother said “great we’re in” before she even asked what the challenge was. (Proud mum moment right there).
Then came the support team Donna Wurz’s wife stepped up as chief cook and bottle washer, followed by Taff Lane (OGRI MCC member) in the support vehicle . Thanks also need to go out to fellow OGRI MCC member Craig (Griff) Griffiths for saucing equipment . Without you this challenge wouldn’t be possible.
Our next mission becomes your mission; we need to raise a minimum of £1,400 in sponsorship. Please help us to help so many others and donate no matter what amount:
