Great North Run 2012 - 16th September 2012
Hi All,
After completing my 10th consecutive Bupa Great North Run last year in a personal best 1hr 22mins I'm going for my 11th this year to try and beat that time and also top the £1,325 that I raised for Make-A-Wish Foundation UK.
Make-A-Wish Foundation UK are a relatively small charity but last year they were absolutely amazing before and after the run and I know that the money I raised would have really made a difference to children with life-threatening illnesses so that's why I'm running for them again. This year I hope to raise £2,000 so please dig deep and give as much as you can - EVERY PENNY COUNTS AND WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
There are 20,000 children and young people living in the UK with a life-threatening illness and Make-A-Wish Foundation UK aims to grant the wishes of 1,400 of those children. To do this they need to raise £6.8m in 2012, they receive NO government funding or lottery grants and they only rely on generous support of the public.
Most of us had a great childhood and were able to enjoy growing up but for those struggling with life-threatening illnesses everyday can be a fight to survive and all they want is to do is enjoy the time they have - by supporting me for this run you can make a real difference to a child’s life so please give as much as you can.
In the last 10 years my fastest time has been 1 hour and 22 minutes but this year I'm looking to go even faster. Last year I ran 320 miles to prepare for the Great North Run but this year my aim is to complete 600 miles before the 16th September.
