Sahara Race (26th Oct - 1st Nov 2008) - latest news
Rob finished at the Giza Pyramids in Cairo on Saturday 1st Nov, completing his 3rd desert in 31 hrs and 20 mins, finishing 4th overall.
You can still contribute to the MU Foundation until the end of November!!
The Sahara Race is a 258km, six day, self-supported footrace across the white desert in Egypt. Participants cover the equivalent of just under a marathon a day for the first 4 days, then 100km on day 5 (the 'long day'...), finishing with a short run to the Pyramids at Giza on the last day. The course will be flater and temperatures much hotter than the Gobi and Atacama races, with more sand and dunes. It is one of the '4Deserts' , a series organised by Racing The Planet (Gobi, Atacama, Sahara and Antarctica).
Since the Atacama Crossing in March, Rob competed with a team in the 100km Trailwalker UK in July, but otherwise has done little due to an ankle injury. The aim for the Sahara Race is to finish and raise money and awareness for the MU Foundation.
