Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page!
We have trekked the Inca Trail this November!
This was demanding and challenging trek with some strenuous ascents - including reaching the top of 'Dead Woman's Pass' 4,200m above sea level.
Why did we do it?
We are trying to raise enough funds to sponsor a Taxi to participate in the Magical Taxi Tour - and the next trip will be in September 2015.
The Tour gives children who are unwell a break from their world of treatment and therapy - by going on a trip of a lifetime to Disneyland Resort Paris in a convoy of 100 London Black Cabs.
Children can only do this with the support of Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics - plus of course London's legendary Taxi Drivers.
Please help us to raise enough money to sponsor at least one of those Taxis in the next convoy!
The Inca Trail was very challenging!
The terrain was very rough and there were many steps of differing heights negotiated and there were some very steep descents too on the original Inca steps.
We trekked at high altitude in varied temperatures for 5 consecutive days - and the most challenging day was the second day when we climbed up to Dead Woman's Pass from 2,800m to 4,200m above sea level.
We had trained very hard for this event with long weekend hilly walks plus long evening sessions in the gym - but nothing could prepare us for the effects of altitude sickness which had to be overcome if we were going to complete our challenge!
The Inca Trail led us along gushing rivers, through ancient tunnels and over high mountain passes to the Sun Gate - and the sight of the magnificent lost City of Machu Picchu will live with us forever!
Please support our Appeal - it is for a very worthy cause - our trip to Peru can generate funds for a trip of a lifetime for children suffering from severe illness.
