I have taken on the challenge of fundraising for our Royal Marines by choosing to descend the Shard - Western Europe’s tallest skyscraper.

Later in the month I will also be abseiling from the roof of St Pancras station mirroring the arduous training Royal Marines undertake to gain their green beret.

Why the Commando Spirit Appeal?

At the heart of the RMCTFs fundraising endeavours are the Commando Spirit Series of once in a lifetime challenges to test your mettle and give you a taste of what it means to be a Royal Marines Commando whilst raising serious sums for the Commando Spirit Appeal for Royal Marines and their families in need. This year, Commando Spirit participants are being challenged to abseil, with the Royal Marines, from iconic locations across the UK and so we are delighted to be able, with the support of HRH The Duke of York and all the partner organisations, to be a part of the Descent of The Shard. The unique opportunity to abseil from the pinnacle of The Shard will give all participants the chance to show their own Commando Spirit qualities of courage, determination, unselfishness and cheerfulness in the face of adversity.
