After a short lay-off (30 years) I have returned to cycling, building up my distance over the last few years with a few long distance Audax rides. I finished 2012 on a high by cycling from Whitehaven to Sunderland: one very, very long day in the saddle.

I really do enjoy cycling, but after riding through sub-zero temperatures, snow, ice, wind and rain, you could say there is an element of 'madness' involved: after all, riding from John O'Groats to Land's End is a very strange way to spend a holiday!

This journey is a personal challenge for me, and I never set out to make it a "charity" event. If you do however want to show your support (on the basis that you do think I am slightly deranged J), then THANK YOU for donating to the charity of my choice!
