Great North Run 2011 - 18th September 2011
Hi All,
This year will be my 10th Great North Run half-marathon. In the past I've run for Cancer Research UK and Ovarian Cancer Action but this year I want to make a difference for children with life-threatening illnesses so I'm running for Make-A-Wish Foundation.
There are 20,000 children and young people living in the UK with a life-threatening illness and Make-A-Wish Foundation aims to grant the wishes of 1,200 of those children. To do this they need to raise £5.5m in 2011, they receive NO government funding or lottery grants and they only rely on generous support of the public.
Most of us had a great childhood and were able to enjoy growing up but for those struggling with life-threatening illnesses everyday can be a fight to survive and all they want is to do is enjoy the time they have - by supporting me for this run you can make a real difference to a child’s life so please give as much as you can.
In the last 10 years my fastest time has been 1 hour and 28 minutes but this year I'm looking to smash that time. Challenge me by offering to double your donation if I beat a certain time and I'll do my very best to do that and raise even more money.
