Story
This started out due to my favourite hobbies. Sport, mainly horse racing and rugby. The first being the only sport the participants are followed by an ambulance all day, and the 2nd sport being the one where ive recoieved most of my breakages!
St John Ambulance is manned by volunteers who go to more events than you may realise. They are at all race meetings and point to points and save lives on the scene, there are many jockeys that might not be here if it were not for quick thinking, volunteer paramedics.
The same goes for neerly any sport you can think of, there will almost always be a first-aider on hand. They are manned by volunteers and offer First Aid at the scene of accidents / injuries, they train volunteers and school children in first Aid, they are present at local events such as fetes and festivals working whilst others enjoy themselves, they come to sporting events such as rugby, football, cricket and equestrian sports to name a few, and they do this in all weathers, rain or shine, for no financial reward, so rely on donations to be able to do this.
Every year up to 140,000 people die in situations where First Aid could have saved their lives.
St John Ambulance teaches people First Aid so that they can be the difference between life and death.
St John Ambulance is the UKs leading First Aid charity and more than half a million people complete a St John Ambulance training course, through the workplace or the community.
They teach lifesaving skills to young people in schools and youth clubs.
These trained individuals often then become volunteers at public events for your safety, as well as providing on hand assistance to emergency services in times of crisis.
The funds you raise play a vital role in supporting their charity work teaching first aid to hundreds of thousands of people every year, providing as many people as possible with the skills to be able to save lives.
How your funds can make a difference:
£25 pays for 200 first aid guides, providing information on how to treat 5 common conditions that could be the difference between life and death.
£40 pays for an hour of first aid training.
£80 covers the operational costs of a first aid response unit for one hour.
£120 pays for a St John Ambulance trainer to teach first aid to a class of 32 children.
