Story
Dear All,
Jamie, William, Joey and Richard Hext will be walking 250km from Urumqi, Xiniang (North West China) into the Gobi Desert from Sunday 25th June until Saturday 1st July. We are raising money for Marie Curie, the cancer care charity that took such great care of Annie (Mother and Wife) and provided us with support just under two years ago in June / July 2009, when she battled with Cancer.
Marie Curie Cancer Care has 2,000 nurses in the UK and last year they worked for 1,200,000 hours caring for terminally ill patients, including half of all cancer patients who die at home. They also have nine hospices and are the biggest provider of hospice beds outside the NHS. In total, Marie Curie Cancer Care spends over £80 million a year on its charitable activities of providing care as well as on research and development. The figure is overwhelming, but so is the comfort that the money can provide.
This adventure will not be without its trials, however, it pales in comparison to the day to day battles any cancer sufferer goes through. Marie Carie, like any charity, depends on donations to keep going. Please donate to what is a very worthwhile cause, 1 in 3 of us will get cancer.
Thank you for your support.
