They aim to restore the dignity of prisoners by providing humane conditions and improving welfare, access to medical facilities and the opportunity to learn. The Helen Bamber Foundation is a UK-based human rights organization established as a charity in April 2005. We provide medical consultation, therapeutic care, human rights advocacy and practical support to survivors of gross human rights violations and other forms of extreme cruelty. The population we serve comes from over 70 countries. They are survivors of torture, domestic violence, honour killings, genocide and rape. They are men, women and children, who have been trafficked for the purposes of labor and sexual exploitation. Their experiences reflect the myriad patterns of oppression and political violence that plague the world in which we live. The service is provided by a multi disciplinary team of professionals comprised of therapists, doctors, psychiatrists, caseworkers and interpreters. The practice is united by the team’s commitment to upholding principles of human rights and to treating the people who seek our services with dignity and respect.
Kestrel Theatre Company is a registered charity dedicated to working creatively with drama within the criminal justice system. Kestrel projects involve groups of inmate and ex-inmate actors using structured improvisation to create new and original dramas for filmed or live performance.
The Koestler Trust is the UKs best known prison arts charity. It awards, exhibits and sells artworks by offenders, detainees and high security patients. Since our foundation in 1962 the Koestler Awards have become a prestigious fixture across the British criminal justice system and the Trust has recently begun an offender arts mentoring scheme.
The KHRP has a vision for a future based on justice, equality, and the rule of law. Safer London Foundation is the independent charitable arm of the Metropolitan Police Service, with a presence in every London borough. The Foundation focuses on empowering local people to reduce violence and crime in London by helping to fund innovative community crime reduction projects and by supporting the activities of Safer Neighbourhoods police Teams and their community panels.

Switchback works with young adult offenders in prison kitchens, building relationships that continue through the gate. After release, they provide constant support as young people train at the Skylight café in London. By addressing the practical and personal issues at the heart of the re-offending cycle, employment becomes a realistic option for this vulnerable group.
Established in 1999, Synergy Theatre Project works towards the rehabilitation of prisoners, ex-offenders and youths at risk, through theatre and related activities, whilst placing the wider issues surrounding imprisonment in the public arena. The company has four strands of activity: theatre productions, new writing, crime prevention and film and radio.

Lancaster and District YMCA work to improve the quality of life for young people in crisis. Our current work includes work with homeless young people, ex-offenders, and young people experiencing family breakdown. We also run a community radio station and manage the Ridge Community Centre.
