We support children in developing countries to assert and realise their rights.

Story

On 2nd June 2014, Patrick Hutton and Richard Johnson completed a north to south crossing of Papua New Guinea by human power. The 1000km journey took 83 days,  going through swamps, bogs, mountains, rapids and dodging crocodiles. See WWW.PNGEXPEDITION.COM

We are so privileged to be able to undertake such an expedition, and do not take this for granted. Our journey through Papua New Guinea will be an eye opener for both of us- travelling to some of the most remote places on earth is a good reminder of how lucky we are.

Regular health care, education, sanitation and the ability to live without fear of violence are simply a dream for many of the communities through which we are travelling. Since 1994, ChildFund has co-ordinated projects across Papua New Guinea, aiming to ensure that all communities have access to these basic rights.

Papua New Guinea has one of the most serious HIV epidemics in the Pacific region, and cases of TB - a completely preventable disease, has risen by 42% in the past ten years. Among other projects, ChildFund  send 'inoculation patrols' in to jungle communities, providing vaccinations to children in communities such as those through which we are travelling. Your donations will go directly to ChildFund, and are completely independent of our exped - we are not completing this journey through a tour operator, gap year organisation etc., and as such do not have 'minimums' to raise. We just think that ChildFund is a brilliant cause. Read more about their work here:  www.childfund.org.au/countries/papua-new-guinea
