About
Me - Hi, I'm Neil and
I've been selected to go on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square as part of
Anthony Gormley's One & Other Project. I've decided to try to help the Dogs
Trust to raise some funds and to raise awareness of their Anti Puppy Farming
campaign. My hour on the plinth will see me dressing in a dog costume and
cramming myself into a dog crate to highlight the conditions experienced by
farmed puppies. If the crowd shouts loud enough I'll be allowed out and will be
throwing sweet goodies to those supporting me.
About Puppy Farming - Puppy farming is horrendous. Full stop. Many people are unaware that by purchasing a puppy from a pet
shop or through an advertisement in the paper they are often supporting
profit-focused battery farms where no thought is given to the health and
wellbeing of the dogs. Breeding bitches are kept in unthinkably cruel
conditions and bred from continuously until they are too old, then discarded.
Puppies often suffer from medical problems and behavioural issues as a result
of being taken away from their mothers at too young an age.
About
One & Other - One
& Other is a live artwork by sculptor Antony Gormley. 2,400
participants representing every region of the UK each spend an hour alone on
the empty plinth in Trafalgar Square for 100 days and nights.
