Story
Thank you for sponsoring me in the Great South Run 2009. I made it round in 1 hour 44 minutes, a minute slower than last time, but I did have to stop to give Ruth a kiss half way round. The weather was (for a GSR day) fantastic, very mild and sunny, and I really enjoyed the run. There was a great atmosphere with lots of people lining the route cheering the runners on, especially the last two miles. However, I was quite relieved to see the finish line with Alex and Ruth just past it, and we celebrated with a pint at the pub.
Thanks again for your donation - thinking of the money going to CRUK really helped me to make it round.

Hello all
I'm doing the Great South Run on 25th October to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
Alex and I did the GSR back in 2007 (see above!). Last year having given birth to little Ruth just a month before I decided to give it a miss, although Alex managed to
make it around on his own in the gales and torrential rains.
This year it is his turn to babysit, and I'll be braving everything that the Portsmouth weather has to throw at me for the energy-sapping 10 mile run past all of the pubs I used to hang around in as a teenager.
I am running in memory of two of Ruth's wonderful grandparents - my mother, who died nearly ten years ago, and also Skip, Alex's step-dad, who sadly lost his fight recently.
Thank youPippa
